“I am thrilled to be teaching at Micheltorena Elementary School and to be part of such a warm and dynamic community. Micheltorena is a wonderful place to teach and learn, and I feel lucky to be in this profession doing what I enjoy. The amazing students, creative and dedicated staff, and outstanding parent community makes our school a wonderful place for everyone to learn and grow. I strive to create a caring, safe, and engaging learning environment, which encourages students to believe in themselves and to do their personal best.
I grew up in Porterville, California, and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno. After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles, and have been teaching her for the past 15 years. During my career, I have been a teacher for grades kindergarten through sixth. More recently, I have had the opportunity to “loop” with the same students from kindergarten through third grade. I usually teach kindergarten through third grade, although I enjoy teaching all elementary grades.
As an educator I am always looking for opportunities to improve my teaching and bring new and current ideas to the classroom. While at Micheltorena I have been a mentor teacher, received the National Teaching Board certification in 1998, and have attended various trainings across the curriculum. In addition, I have received certificates in the area of Tiered Instruction, as well as Gifted Instruction, to name a few.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.”
