Charles Kimzey grew up in the area outside Washington, D. C.  He received a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, and his Master of Arts and his teaching certificate from Cal State University at Northridge.

Mr. Kimzey has been a teacher at a wilderness school, at a boarding school for special education students, and at a program teaching high school dropouts to build houses before he came to Micheltorena to teach special education classes.

Mr. Kimzey loves teaching, in particular “when working with a student who was unable to learn previously, then gets that gleam of recognition of their own ability…”

Mr. Kimzey’s two children currently attend Micheltorena.  In his free time, Mr. Kimzey enjoys playing the ukele, working, and pontificating.
