Spatial-Temporal (ST) Math (a.k.a. Jiji) is a game-based instructional software for K-12. It was designed to boost math comprehension and proficiency through visual learning. It incorporates the latest research in learning and the brain and promotes mastery-based learning and mathematical understanding. ST Math uses visuals that represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. For more information please visit www.mindrrsearch.org/stmath. Our students use ST Math twice a week in our computer lab. ST Math is also a part of our nightly homework.
What is Accelerated Reader (AR)? AR is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at their own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) AR gives children, teachers, and parents feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading practice. Children using AR choose their own books to read, rather than having one assigned to them. This makes reading a much more enjoyable experience as they can choose books that are interesting to them. Teachers help your child choose books at an appropriate readability level that are challenging without being frustrating, ensuring that your child can pass the quiz and experience success. When students visit the computer lab they have an opportunity to login into their AR accounts.
