Mr. Moreno’s Class Page

I am a fourth grade teacher at Micheltorena Street School.  I have spent time working for Burbank Unified School District and have now turned my efforts over to Los Angeles Unified School District.  Micheltorena is my home school now and I have enjoyed teaching here for all of my 14 years!

I am fluent in Spanish and English.  I have travelled to Canada, Mexico, Panama, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Croatia, Italy, Greece, France, Portugal, Spain, Malta, and Sweden.  It is impossible to choose a favorite destination although my time spent in Copper Canyon, Mexico is hard to match.

I spend a lot of time traveling in the states too.  And when I do, I find it so difficult not to spend $ on things to take back to the classroom = )!  In my spare time I like to volunteer.  Because I am a naturalist at heart, I love to volunteer in the Angeles National Forest as a fire lookout (Vetter Mountain, Slide Mountain, South Mount Hawkins).  Check out our website – http://www.anffla.org/

I also enjoy Los Angeles architecture.  I volunteer for the DaCamera Society/Chamber Music in Historic Sites and have helped bring quality musical ensembles to our Micheltorena auditorium.  Check out their website -http://www.dacamera.org/

Parents:

  • To enhance your child’s understanding of westward expansion and the gold rush era, visit the Wells Fargo Museum downtown.  Children will love sitting and “riding” in a stage coach.

  • To read more about local California missions visit:  http://missiontour.org/sanfernando/

  • The Natural History Museum downtown is loaning our classroom resources and artifacts related to the gold rush.  The museum loans “teacher trunks” to teachers for use in the classroom.
