Mr. Carrillo

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a great spring break.  Our class had a magnificent time at the Skirball Museum. We got to a chance to explore Noah’s Ark, an interactive and hands-on place where my students had a fun time.  A big thanks to the Skirball Museum for their generous bus and entrance scholarships.

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful time during the vacation with family and friends.  Thank you to all the parents who helped their child with the vacation homework.  Many of the project books I got were well-done.  Many 4′s and 3′s!!!

Parent Conferences are around the corner (Monday, February 13th through Friday, February 17th).  I will be sending notices this week to schedule an appointment.  If you have a preference date and time, you may either write me a note, come and talk to me, or write me an email at jlc7194@lausd.net.  I will try to accommodate you.

A field trip is coming soon.  We are going to the Skirball Museum to learn about cultures on February 16th.  February 16th is a minimum day because of  parent conferences.  I will be asking, you, the parents if it OK to arrive from the field trip at 2:15 PM instead of the 12:19 PM time.  The children will enjoy the field trip better f they have a chance to take their time to explore the museum  and listen to the docents explanation of  different cultures.  Also, we get to go to a park to eat lunch and then the children get a chance to play.  I will be sending field trip forms this week.  Please come and talk to me if you want to go on the field trip.

We had an awesome time at the Getty Museum on November 30. For many of my students, this was their first time visiting the Getty.  Students were telling me they had fun seeing the art and garden.  They especially enjoyed riding the tram to get to the museum.  Once again, thank you to all parents who helped with supervision.  I also want to thank the Getty Museum education department for providing a scholarship for free transportation and entrance fee.  Very generous of them!

SAVE THE DATE – Our holiday program will be on Wednesday, December 14, at 1:00 PM.  Mr. Kimzey’s class and my class will perform Santa Paws Is Coming to Town.  The students will be dressed-up and singing and dancing.  Mr. Kimzey will be playing the ukulele and I will be playing the guitar.  Bring your cameras!!!  It will be cute!

We had a wonderful time at the Silver Lake Branch Library.  Thank you to Ms. Hillary, the librarian, for entertaining the students with music and storytelling. The students were very happy and some of them even got a chance to check-out books with their library card. Also, thank you to all the parents who helped with supervision. It was a nice walk!!! I think I burnt 800 calories. :>)
