If you didn’t already know, the Third Annual Great Pumpkin Festival was a huge success!! Students, parents, teachers, community members (and a few celebrities!) came and ate, had their palms read, danced to music, carved a pumpkin, and freaked out in the haunted house. Scroll down for photos. Thank you to Analise Dubner for being our festival photographer!!
Friends of Micheltorena would like to send a big heartfelt thank you to Abbe and Bobby Rodriguez who coordinated the Pumpkin Festival this year. A big thanks also to Ms. Lina Lecaro, for helping put together the amazing line-up of bands and DJs for our fest, and MC’ing at the fest. It takes a great deal of effort and time to run a school event of this size, but more importantly, events like this help us create a sense of community. If you see them around campus, flash them a smile or thank you.
FOM also wishes to thank every person who volunteered their time to set up, decorate, donated food or drinks, cleaned up and those who sat at a booth/bounce house/haunted house for a shift or two (or three!) Did you know the fest also raised $4000 for school programs and resources?!? It did!! For the families who attended with their children/family/friends, we appreciate your support and know that we would not have raised this much money with you. A special thanks to our staff and teachers who took time from their weekends to celebrate alongside our students. Our Micheltorena community is growing and dependent on everyone participating in any way they can.
And in case you missed it, our Pumpkin Festival garnered a lot of attention. The LA Weekly reported on our super successful festival! Read about it here. Yes, that’s Jack Black with DJ Lance Rock of Yo Gabba Gabba!! Click on the arrows at the top of the photo to scroll through some great pics!
