Mr. Esparza was born and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico, where he finished his elementary education. He migrated to the United States when he was 11 years old with the rest of his family and attended middle school and high school in East Los Angeles. He later earned his Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Economics and Masters of Education (M. Ed) from UCLA. In 2012, he became a National Board Certified Teacher, Early Childhood Generalist.
For the past two years he worked as a Common Core Elementary Math Teacher Facilitator for Educational Center West where he was in charge of leading professional development for teachers at 15 schools. Mr. Esparza demonstrated, co-taught, and coached teachers in their classroom with a focus on Number Talks and Problem-Based lessons.
Mr. Esparza enjoys running and loves to travel around the world. He doesn’t have a favorite country or city because he always finds something unique in every country and city he has visited. The only thing that he enjoys more than traveling is eating delicious food. From gourmet food to Dine LA to food festivals to street tacos, he’ll eat anything as long as it is not alive. Currently, he is training to run the Los Angeles Marathon and the Spartan Races in California. He hopes to finish both events without passing out in front of his family and friends.
